About Cal, DMD and the Jett Foundation
Cal was diagnosed with DMD, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, when he was 5 years old. This disease makes it hard for the boys to use their muscles like we do every day. They say it's like walking in fireman boots all day. Sometimes their legs just get so tired they feel better in wheelchairs.
Cal’s parents have teamed up with the Jett Foundation and a woman named Christine McSherry who, after her son Jett was diagnosed, started a foundation dedicated to fighting this horrible disease. The Jett Foundation works with Mass General Hospital and recently opened a new clinic just to help boys with DMD. This clinic is the first of its kind in New England and the boys find it easy to go there to get the help they need. The foundation is also supporting research to fight this disease. Our Pals for Cal fundraising supports the work of the Jett Foundation in hope that Cal and all the boys living with Duchenne will live longer, healthier lives.
